BUSINESS SITUATION 2010

Two of the CPH Group's three business divisions sustained further double-digit percentage declines in their sales for the year. Only the Packaging Division was able to increase sales volumes. The strength of the Swiss franc, low paper prices and the high cost of energy and raw materials combined to produce a negative net Group result. The new PM7 paper machine was successfully put into service.

CPH is an internationally active industrial group that is headquartered in Switzerland. The CPH Group specialises in developing, manufacturing and distributing chemicals, paper and pharmaceutical packaging films. The Group maintains seven production facilities, which are located in Switzerland, Germany, Ireland and the USA.

CPH can draw on a tradition of almost 200 years of successful industrial activity. The Group's Chemistry Division includes the Uetikon chemicals factory, which is the oldest still operating in Switzerland and dates back to 1818, while the Paper Division traces its roots back to the Perlen paper and wood pulp factory established in 1873. The shares of CPH have been listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange (under the Domestic Standard) since 2001.
